talk to trend About her latest fragrance, Billie No. 2, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter opened up about embracing her body image and femininity.
“I’ve been very masculine and boyish for most of my life, but the last few years have been like, ‘Hey, I can be whatever I want to be when I want to be.'” Let it be,’ she said.
“You don’t have to prove to everyone that you’re a tomboy all the time. Like, that’s who I am, but I’m also this kind of girl. I’m feminine, I’m sexy, and I’m also I’m cute and I’m none of the above, I’m just me.”
The “Happier Than Ever” singer said she strives to embrace her sense of hyper-femininity on her own terms. She added, “I’m trying to make it easier to wear make-up. It’s like wearing a lot of make-up.” “Of course I always wear a little make-up, but it’s like putting make-up on a big face…that’s something I look up to and admire, but for me it’s I am very scared.”
Billy then revealed his multi-faceted personality by recounting wearing a sheer black Simone Rocha dress to the 2023 Met Gala. As soon as the event was over, she changed her clothes. “I was like, go back to the hotel and stop this!” she said. She said, “I wear big North Face pants, I wear big zip-up jackets, I wear backwards hats, I wear a couple pairs of Jordans. It makes me feel great. It’s so strong like that. I feel it.”
And, unfortunately, it’s this diversity within her image that has prompted unnecessary criticism of her appearance. “Hey, I don’t know. It’s hard,” said Billy. “Honestly, no one can say that I don’t have a stronger opinion about my body.”
“Had I been younger, let’s be honest, if I was 11 years old and the internet was talking about me like I am now, I don’t think I could have existed.”
Billie has come to terms with her evolving identity, but admitted the criticism still affects her. She said, “I like myself more than I used to, and I’m more interested in how I feel than how they feel. But that could be bullshit, because it still makes me feel like a sonofabitch.” because it will hurt you.”
And here it is! Billy is real.
