🚨 WARNING: Major spoilers for the ending you season four. 🚨
In the end, by the end of the season, we learn that the killer in “Eat the Rich” isn’t actually IRL Rhys, but a manifestation of Joe’s inner psyche. Despite this, Joe is not caught and returns to New York with Kate and a large amount of money.
So BuzzFeed caught up with Serra Gamble. you — to find out what that ending turned out to be.
For one, it was decided from the early planning stages of Season 4 that Joe would eventually return to New York. Sera explained.
When asked specifically about Kate’s arc, she continued.
“I don’t think we should assume that Kate really knows it all and leaves the season just because she said she was going to tell us everything. The standard of what she accepts in a relationship or someone else’s behavior should be: It may not be the same as Kate.In fact, Tom Lockwood is her father and she grew up watching it, so she says it’s not.
Serra continued, “This season feels like the season Joe was thinking about coming to terms with himself. The ‘you’ this season is Joe. By the end of the season it should be pretty clear that this show has absolutely no interest in getting Joe off the hook. has not redeemed him.
If Season 5 is confirmed by Netflix, it will also be set in New York. Do you have more wealth, privilege and protection than ever before?”
An important part of this is Joe’s acceptance of “Rhys.” “Previously, 60-85% of his energy was spent lying to himself about the fact that he was going to a place to kill someone and cleaning up the horrible mess that happened because he didn’t plan it properly. He is instead being more honest with himself and accepting that this is a tool in his toolbox, what does it turn him into? I would love to be your boyfriend. His belief in love, I don’t think, if the squirrel side of him is fully integrated and if not what is there?”
Thanks for talking to me, Sera! you Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix.
